Good to Great!

Have to start somewhere

Good to great!

I hope that you read our last post, Why Be Great?, and have decided that cultivating greatness is worthwhile.  Sometimes, it’s hard to discern whether you are already doing great or if you are just doing ‘good.’  The reason for this is that there could be a lot of positive things going on for you in your life right now so you feel as if that is great.

How can I tell the difference between good and great?

This can be difficult because greatness is more of a feeling than a concrete set of criteria.  It is important that you know what you want and why you want it.  But, there are some questions that you can ask yourself that can help you figure out if you are doing good or doing great:

Do you wake up excited for the day every single morning?

Is every activity in your life easy or are you constantly stretching yourself?

Do you doubt how you are spending your life?

Do you feel as if you are missing out on your true calling?

Do you feel happy with where you are in life and how you spend your time?

Are you constantly trying to get better?

Is there any area of your life where things are not as good as they could be?

Do you feel as if you are constantly achieving goals and setting new ones?

Do you feel as if you are doing ‘Great?’

You decide

At the end of the day, you get to decide whether you are doing great.  I challenge you to think about each area of your life and decide.  I will offer some suggestions in the next article on how to tackle greatness in each area of your life but start thinking about it now.  What can you do to get further in your personal and professional lives?

Greatness is a mindset but it is also a way of living that encompasses a little discipline, a vision, powerful goals, and pushing yourself beyond your comfort level.  Someone who is seeking greatness is always working on themselves to do more, to create more, or become more.  If you live any other way, you are settling, which may be okay for you.  But, I don’t have to know you in order to know that you are capable of so much more than you do now.
